Food

Ah, food! Glorious, tasty, toxic, tragic food. My family has a difficult relationship with food.

Here you will find a collection of articles on food intolerances of various kinds. My “Feed me, Seymour, but make it gluten free” and “Feed me Seymour, but make it fructose friendly” articles have been very popular ever since they were written – they get hits every day – so this is obviously something people struggle with. Indeed, I wrote them in the first place because I had people wanting to cook for us, but not realising the challenge of it. I needed something to refer them to so they would know what they were taking on!

Finally, a recipe! Fructose Friendly Christmas Pudding. This is the first time I’ve had Christmas pudding since I was diagnosed around 5 years ago, and it’s divine. Enjoy!

I also have articles here about silent reflux, mostly about its impact on our lives. I hope you find them useful!

Louder than words (on silent reflux)

To Sleep, Perchance to sleep some more (more reflux)

Bait and Switch (on finding food that we can all eat!)

Colour me Grumpy (reactions to food colours – both natural and artificial!)

Out of place and out of sorts (on being irrevocably non-mainstream – parents of kids with intolerances may relate to this!)

On being a difficult customer – dining out with multiple food intolerances.

And a positive experience of dining out, at The Smokehouse, Sorrento.
